The North Sentinel Island 

Untouched by the modern hocus pocus an island in the Bay of Bengal, in the Indian Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar. This part of the Andaman and Nicobar Archipelago is inhabited by the Native tribe of Sentinels. People of this tribe still live in their ancient ways of hunting and gathering and are warded off against any kind of modernization and external contact under the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Protection of Aboriginal Tribes Act of 1956. This act prohibits any travel within five nautical miles (9.26km), of the island and the area is patrolled by the Indian Navy.

This island has been banned from traveling since the 1990s, for the protection of the Sentinelese people as they might not have immunity against various diseases of the modern world. Although the exact number of Sentinelese people is unknown it is estimated to be around 400. These people react with hostility towards any kind of expeditions or methods of contact.

In 2006, two fishermen accidentally drifted towards the island, the Sentinelese caught and killed them. In 2018, an American Christian Missionary named John Allen Chau traveled illegally to the island with the plan of introducing Christianity to the Sentinelese people, he was killed and the body was never recovered.

The hostility and violence towards the modern civilization of these Sentinel Tribe show their resilience and determination towards their cultural heritage, which they do not want to get compromised in their wake of the modern world. They have lived there for around 55000 years, and they better be left alone with their Traditions and Ethnicity. 
Let's not corrupt them with Modernism.

उत्तरी सेंटिनल द्वीप

बंगाल की खाड़ी में स्थित,आधुनिक वाही तबाही से अछूत, भारत के अंडमान और निकोबार द्वीप समूह का हिस्सा है उत्तरी सेंटिनल द्वीप। यह द्वीप सेंटिनल जन जाति  द्वारा वास किया जाता है,इस जन जाति लोग अभी भी प्राचीन तौर तरीकों का पालन करके अपना जीवन व्यतीत करते हैं।इस जनजाति के लोग अंडमान निकोबार आदिवासी जनजाति संरक्षण अधिनियम १९५६ के तहत, यह जनजाति किसी भी प्रकार के आधुनिकीकरण तथा बाहरी संपर्क से सुरक्षित हैं।  अधिनियम के तहत किसी का भी ५ समुद्री मील (९.२६ कि मी)की दूरी के अंदर जाना अवैध है,और यह इलाका भारतीय नौ सेना द्वारा निगरानी में रखा जाता है।

इस द्वीप पर किसी भी तरह की यात्रा को १९९० के दशक से वहां के स्थानीय निवासियों की सुरक्षा हेतु प्रतिबंधित के दिया गया है,क्योंकि ऐसा हो सकता है कि उनके पास आधुनिक युग के रोगों के प्रति  प्रतिरोधक क्षमता ना हो।एक अनुमान के अनुसार इस जनजाति की कुल जनसंख्या लगभग ४०० बताई जाती है।यहां के लोग किसी भी प्रकार के संपर्क के प्रयास का जवाब भालों और पत्थरों से देते हैं।

सन् २००६ में दो मछुआरे गलती से इस द्वीप की ओर चले गए थे, सेंटिनल लोगों ने  उन्हें मार दिया। सन् २०१८ में एक अमेरिकी ईसाई धर्म प्रचारक ने सेंटिनल लोगों को ईसाई बनाने की कोशिश की,उसे भी मार दिया और उसका शव कभी मिला नहीं।

उत्तरी सेंटिनल द्वीप के वासियों का आधुनिकता के प्रति हिंसात्मक रवैया, ये दर्शाता है कि वे अपनी परंपराओं और सभ्यता को लेकर कितने कठोर हैं, और वह आधुनिकता की चमक में अपनी सांस्कृतिक अस्मिता को मिटने नहीं देंगे। वे वहां लगभग ५५००० सालों से रह रहे हैं,और उन्हें उनकी मान्यताओं और धरोहरों के साथ किसी प्रकार का समझौता करने हेतु बाध्य नहीं करना चाहिए।
