          Tesla VS Edison: Really?

Nikola Tesla, a nobody born in Smiljan, Austrian Empire(now in Croatia) on July 10th1856, with pied academic qualifications and work experience came to America, with vision and high hopes to work with the most renowned mind of the time Thomas Edison. The year was 1884, Edison's Direct Current was lighting the Nation and Thomas Alva Edison was considered as the wizard of the modern age.

Tesla worked for Edison until he realized he was in the wrong place, Edison was self-obsessed and does not entertain any improvements or alternatives of his own inventions, and was repressive of such ideas. When Tesla introduced his Alternating Current he was mocked by Edison, we all know about the "American sense of humor" incident, where Edison refused to pay Tesla the Money he owed.

Tesla never valued money, which always kept heckling him, but he never learned that the world runs on it. During the "War of Currents" when Edison threw everything he had in curbing Tesla, Tesla subjected himself to 2,50,000 volts of his Alternating Current just to prove its safety, this shows Tesla's devotion to his work. Tesla was engulfed in his vision of making the energy free, for which he envisioned his Tesla Tower, you can search and read about it on Google, it's fascinating. Tesla designed the first hydroelectric power plant on Niagara Falls, harnessing the power of the waterfalls he had marveled at since childhood.

Tesla was very much influenced by his parents especially his mother, he once wrote: “My mother was an inventor of the first order and would, I believe, have achieved great things had she not been so remote from modern life and its multifold opportunities. She invented and constructed all kinds of tools and devices and wove the finest designs from thread which was spun by her.”

Although Tesla and his non-savvy businessman with a peculiar personality struggled for investors, he received funds from J.Pierpont Morgan for a short time who later backed out realizing Tesla's work would not profit him. Despite his achievements and Genius, Tesla suffered financially, he was never good at marketing his inventions and rather focused on making human life better with his machines. If Tesla had completed his Tesla Tower, we would probably be having electricity at cheaper costs if not completely free, and that too without going through so many troubles of generating it. But the concentration of power and flow of Money was challenged by one man's unchained inventions, what happened next is history, somewhat debatable, but Tesla's Visions and Works can not be denied.

Well, maybe Nikola Tesla did not receive the glory and recognition he deserved, but still, we can thank him for inventing, predicting, and contributing to the development of various technologies that play big parts in our daily lives -- like the remote control, neon and fluorescent lights, wireless transmission, computers, smartphones, laser beams, x-rays, robotics and, of course, alternating current, the basis of our present-day electrical system.
Tesla died Alone and Poor, on 7th January 1943, he was 86 years old.
You can read about everything on the internet, but understanding is a different concept. The Man was a Legend,  an idealist, a little bit socially introverted and self reserved but a Visionary Genius.

टेस्ला : एक विलक्षण प्रतिभावान व्यक्तित्व

निकोला टेस्ला का जन्म १० जुलाई,१८५६ में,ऑस्ट्रियन साम्राज्य (अब क्रोएशिया में) में हुआ। एक अत्यंत ही साधारण परिवार में जन्मे निकोला टेस्ला का शैक्षणिक काल काफी उतार चढ़ाव भरा रहा। उन्होंने पहले छोटे मोटे काम करके जीवन यापन किया,किन्तु उनकी प्रतिभा और प्रखर बुद्धि ने उन्हें अमेरिका जाने पर मजबूर किया। सन् १८८४ में जब अपनी कल्पना और आशाएं लेकर निकोला टेस्ला अमेरिका गए, उस वक़्त सम्पूर्ण अमेरिका में थॉमस एडीसन का बोलबाला था, उसे नए युग का जादूगर कहा जाता था, क्योंकि थॉमस एडीसन की "दिष्ट धारा" यानी की डायरेक्ट करेंट, पूरे देश को रौशन कर रही थी।

टेस्ला ने कुछ वक़्त तक एडीसन के लिए काम किया, फिर उन्हें ये ज्ञात हुआ कि वह एक गलत जगह पर अपना समय व्यर्थ कर रहे हैं,क्योंकि एडीसन एक स्व - आसक्त व्यक्ति था,वह अपने किए आविष्कारों में किसी भी प्रकार के सुधार या उनके विकल्प होने की बात को भी नकार देता था। जब टेस्ला ने अपनी "प्रत्यवर्ती धारा" अर्थात् अल्टरनेटिंग करेंट के आविष्कार को सार्वजनिक करने की बात कही तो एडीसन ने टेस्ला और उनके आविष्कार, दोनों का ही मज़ाक उड़ाया। "दी अमेरिकन सेंस ऑफ ह्यूमर" वाली घटना काफी प्रचलित है।

टेस्ला ने अपने जीवन में पैसों को कभी महत्व नहीं दिया,जिसकी वजह से उन्हें अपने कार्य में काफी बाधाएं भी झेलनी पड़ी, पर फिर भी वो नहीं बदले। एक वक़्त आया जब टेस्ला की अल्टरनेटिंग करेंट और एडीसन की डायरेक्ट करेंट के मध्य वर्चस्व युद्ध चल रहा था, एडीसन के पास विभिन्न संसाधन, लोग और पैसे थे, और वह इन सबका प्रयोग टेस्ला के आविष्कार को कुचलने में कर रहा था,और ये साबित करना चाह रहा था कि अल्टरनेटिंग करेंट भयानक और असुरक्षित है। उस वक़्त अपने काम और आविष्कार को सुरक्षित और सही साबित करने के लिए टेस्ला ने अपने ऊपर से ही २५०००० वोल्ट्स की अल्टरनेटिंग करेंट प्रवाहित कर दी थी। यह घटना इस बात का प्रमाण है कि निकोला टेस्ला अपने कार्य को लेकर कितने ही जुझारू और निष्ठावान थे।

टेस्ला विद्युत ऊर्जा को मुफ्त करने की अपनी सोच और दूरदर्शिता में अक्सर उलझे हुए रहते थे, जिसके लिए उन्होंने टेस्ला टॉवर का निर्माण किया था, इसकी विस्तृत जानकारी आप गूगल से प्राप्त के सकते हैं, ये बहुत रोमांचक है। टेस्ला ने नियाग्रा जलप्रपात पर बने सबसे पहले जल विद्युत केंद्र को डिजाइन किया था, जो तीन वर्ष में बनकर तैयार हुआ, जल प्रपात की ऊर्जा को विद्युत ऊर्जा में परिवर्तित करने का विचार टेस्ला के मन में बहुत पहले से था।
टेस्ला के जीवन पे सर्वाधिक प्रभाव उनके माता पिता का रहा है, विशेषकर उनकी माता का, टेस्ला ने एक बार लिखा था कि उनकी माता का आधुनिकता से दूर रहना और जरूरत की हर चीज को खुद ही बनना, उन्हें प्रेरित करता रहा है नई संभावनाओं की देखने के लिए।

हालांकि टेस्ला का एक विशिष्ट व्यक्तित्व था, वे व्यवसायिक बुद्धि के नहीं थे, जिसके कारण उन्हें अक्सर निवेशकों के साथ दिक्कतें हुआ करती थीं। अपनी उपलब्धियों और बौद्धिक क्षमता के बावजूद, टेस्ला को अपने कार्य और आविष्कारों में सदा वित्तीय परेशानियों का सामना करना पड़ा। कुछ समय तक जे. पियरपोंट मॉर्गन ने उनके कार्य में निवेश किया,किन्तु जब उसे पता चला कि टेस्ला मुफ़्त में बिजली बांटने की सोच रहे हैं तो मॉर्गन ने भी हाथ खींच लिया। यदि निकोला टेस्ला ने अपना वह प्रयोग पूर्ण कर लिया होता, तो हमें आज मुफ़्त में ना सही पर बहुत सस्ती बिजली मिलती, वो भी उत्पादन में होने वाली विभिन्न परेशानियों के बिना, किन्तु  ऐसा हो ना नहीं पाया,क्योंकि " धन , नियंत्रण , और शक्ति " की एकदिश धारा के प्रवाह को टेस्ला के उन्मुक्त आविष्कारों ने चुनौती दे दी थी। उसके बाद क्या हुआ वह इतिहास है, हमें पता भी है, उसपर बहस हो सकती है, किन्तु टेस्ला की दूर दृष्टि को हम नकार नहीं सकते।

खैर, शायद निकोला टेस्ला को वो सम्मान और गौरव नहीं प्राप्त हो पाया जिसके वो हकदार थे, लेकिन हम उन्हें धन्यवाद के सकते हैं निम्नलिखित आविष्कारों के लिए -- रिमोट कंट्रोल , नियॉन लाइट्स , वायरलेस हस्तांतरण, कंप्यूटर्स , स्मार्टफोन्स, एक्सरे, रोबोटिक्स और विशेषतः अल्टरनेटिंग करेंट के लिए जो आज हमारे विद्युत प्रणाली की मूल है। उपर्युक्त सभी आविष्कार कहीं ना कहीं टेस्ला के कार्यों और अधूरे सिद्धांतों का ही पूर्ण रूप है।

टेस्ला की मृत्यु अकेले और गरीबी में ७ जनवरी १९४३ को न्यू यॉर्क में हुई, वे  ८६ साल के थे।
आप आज इंटरनेट से कुछ भी पढ़ सकते हैं, लेकिन समझना एक अलग गुण है,निकोला टेस्ला अपने कार्य क्षेत्र में दिव्य चरित्र थे , माना कि वे  एक आदर्शवादी थे, सामाजिक तौर पर अंतर्मुखी थे, वह अपने विचारों में ही खोए रहते थे,लेकिन वह एक अति विलक्षण प्रतिभाशाली व्यक्तित्व के स्वामी थे।
