सम्राट अशोक के नौ अज्ञात रत्न
सम्राट अशोक एक महान शासक थे, वह मगध के शासक बिन्दुसार के पुत्र एवं महान चंत्रगुप्त मौर्य के पौत्र थे।कलिंग युद्ध से पूर्व वह एक युद्ध प्रिय शासक थे,किन्तु कलिंग युद्ध ने उनका हृदय परिवर्तित कर दिया। इस युद्ध में लगभग एक लाख सैनिक मारे गए तथा लगभग डेढ़ लाख लोग बेघर हो गए।इस नर संहार ने सम्राट अशोक को क्षुब्ध कर दिया था,और फिर सम्राट अशोक ने अपना जीवन बौद्ध दर्शन की सहायता से अहिंसा और समन्वय स्थापित करने हेतु समर्पित कर दिया।
किंवदंती है कि सम्राट अशोक अपने अहिंसा और शांति के प्रचार के साथ साथ कुछ विषयों के गूढ़ रहस्यों का संकलन भी करते थे, उनकी नौ पुस्तकें नौ अलग अलग विषयों पर आधारित थीं।किन्तु राज्य के कार्य भार के कारण वह इसे अकेले नहीं कर सकते थे।अतः उन्होंने भारत वर्ष के नौ सबसे बुद्धिमान लोगों को स्वयं चुना और प्रत्येक को एक पुस्तक का भार दिया और एक गुप्त समाज की नींव रखी। जिसमें सदैव नौ लोग ही रहे,यदि कोई बूढ़ा हो जाता, या रोगी हो जाता तो उसकी जगह उसके उतराधिकारी को दे दी जाती। इस गुप्त समुदाय के लोगों का कार्य इन नौ किताबों को सुरक्षित रखना एवं नई विधाओं को एकत्रित करना था।
नौ लोग कौन थे यह कोई नहीं जनता,उनकी पहचान सिर्फ सम्राट को ही मालूम थी। इस समुदाय को सम्राट अशोक ने सदैव छुपे रहने का निर्देश दिया, क्योंकि उनकी पुस्तकों में संग्रहित ज्ञान गलत हाथों में विनाशकारी हो सकता था। ये पुस्तकें इन विषयों पर थीं :-
पहली किताब अपने विचारों के प्रचार तथा अन्य के विचारों को नियंत्रित करने की कला एवं मनोवैज्ञानिक युद्ध की कला के विषय में थी,यह सबसे शक्तिशाली एवं खतरनाक पुस्तक मानी जाती थी।
दूसरी किताब शरीर क्रिया विज्ञान पर आधारित थीं,जिसमें स्पर्श मात्र से मार देने की कला भी थी,जिसे मृत्यु स्पर्श कहते हैं। कहा जाता है कि आज के सभी मार्शल आर्ट्स,जूडो,कुंग फू आदि इस पुस्तक के ज्ञान सागर से गिरे कुछ बूंदों से उतपन्न हुए हैं।
तीसरी पुस्तक सुक्षमजैविकी या सूक्ष्मजीव विज्ञान और जैव प्रद्योगिकी की बारीकियों से परिपूर्ण है।
चौथी पुस्तक में कीमिया या रस विधा का वर्णन है,जिसे अंग्रेज़ी में अल्केमी कहते हैं। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि कई बार लोगों को उस वक़्त ,सूखा या आपदा के समय गुप्त स्थानों से स्वर्ण प्राप्त हो जाय करता था।
पांचवीं पुस्तक में सभी प्रकार संपर्क संचार की विधाएं हैं, पार्थिव या पृथ्वी संबंधी एवं अपर्थिव या पृथ्वी के बाहर से संबद्ध।जिससे यह पता चलता है कि इन किताबों में परग्रही जीवों के विषय में भी जानकारी थी।
छठी पुस्तक का संबंध गुरुत्वाकर्षण और उसके उपयोग से था,इसके साथ ही वैदिक काल के विमानों को निर्मित करने की विधा भी थी।
सातवीं पुस्तक में ब्रह्माण्ड और उसके रहस्यों का वर्णन था,जिसमें अन्य सौर मंडल व उनमें जीवन के होने की संभावनाएं आदि शामिल थे।
आठवीं पुस्तक में प्रकाश का वर्णन था,प्रकाश के गुण तथा इसका प्रयोग एक हथियार के रूप में कैसे किया जा सकता है,इसकी सम्पूर्ण जानकारी थी।
नौवीं और आखिरी पुस्तक में समाजशास्त्र के गूढ़ नियम थे,को किसी भी राज्य या सभ्यता के उदभव, उत्थान और अंत की भविष्यवाणी कर सकते थे।
आज दो हजार साल बाद,क्या अब भी ये समुदाय हमारे बीच है?हम बस कयास लगा सकते हैं कि ऐसा कोई समुदाय कभी था भी या नहीं,किन्तु स्वयं को आधुनिक युग के प्रणेता मानने वालों के लिए यह एक मात्र किंवदंती है जिसका उपहास करना चाहिए।क्योंकि उनके हिसाब से जंगल में रहने वाले कुछ भारतीय लोगों के पास ऐसा कोई भी ज्ञान नहीं हो सकता। शायद इसीलिए इसपर एक मात्र सुव्यवस्थित किताब टालबोट मंडी द्वारा लिखी द नाइन अननोन है।
Ashoka's Nine Unknown
Ashoka was The great Mauryan Emperor, the ruler of Magadh, and the grandson of legendary Chandragupta Maurya. Before Kalinga War, he was a war-mongering ruler, as he was anxious to further glorify the legacy of his Grandfather. The Kalinga war which killed around 1,00,000 soldiers and expelled around 1,50,000 villagers shook him to the core. Nonplussed and added by the carnage of the war, he converted to Buddhism and swore never to do violence. He then devoted his life to preaching about non-violence and peace. He also started collecting hidden knowledge in various subjects, but as a king, he could not do it for long so he selected the 9 most wise men to carry out the task, who are known as the Nine Unknown Men of Ashoka.
Each of these men was handpicked by Ashoka, and the identities of these 9 men were never revealed to anyone and each was given a book to guard with life. So 9 men and 9 books, and thus this secret organization was formed. Each book was on a specific subject, and these Unknown Men were tasked to travel and collect new knowledge but remain in shadows. At the time of their retirement due to Bad Health, Old Age they will pass the information and responsibility of the book to the chosen successors.
Ashoka hid these books and kept the organization secret as he feared that the knowledge would be catastrophic in the wrong hands. These books were on:-
The first book contained knowledge of Propaganda and molding the masses and Psychological warfare, and is supposed to be the most dangerous one.
The second book was on Physiology explaining how to kill someone by a simple touch, it's called ' the touch of death. It is also said that all the Martial Arts are products of leakages from the book.
The third book dealt with Microbiology and Bio-Technology.
The fourth book was focused on Alchemy, stories go as in the times of drought and mishaps people got gold from a secret location.
The fifth book was on Communication of all means, Terrestrial and Extra-terrestrial, alluding that these Unknown Men were aware of life in Space.
The sixth book had knowledge about Gravity and its secrets, like how to manipulate it and to make Vedic Vimanas.
The seventh book was on Cosmogony and Matters of the Universe, alleged to have vast knowledge about various star systems and life in them.
The eighth book dealt with Light, its various properties, and how to transform it into a weapon.
The ninth book discussed Sociology, rules governing evolution, growth, and decline of various societies.
2000 years later, do they still live among us? Well, we can only speculate, whether these Men existed or not, but the idea seemed pretty far fetched to the so-called Pioneers of Modern World, that some Indian men living in solitude in some jungle could possess such knowledge and thus these Nine Unknown Men and their Books were treated as mere myths and Talbot Mundy's book The Nine Unknown is all that is left.
