यह मज़ेदार तरीके से दिलचस्प है, यह जानना कि गाजर का भी इतिहास है, न केवल उत्पत्ति का, बल्कि इसका प्रचार और रंग का भी। इसकी उत्पत्ति आधुनिक दिन अफगानिस्तान और इराक से घिरे क्षेत्र में हुई, और मूल रूप से सफेद थे, जमीन के नीचे उगने वाली अन्य सब्जियों की तरह, लेकिन फिर कुछ होता है और सब कुछ बदल जाता है।

                 Carrot's History

It's interesting in a funny way, to know that the CARROTS too have history, not only of origin but also of its propagation and color superiority. CARROTS originated in the region surrounded by modern-day Afghanistan and Iraq, and were originally white, like other Vegetables growing underground, but then something happens and everything changed.

First came, the Yellow and Purple Carrots, and then came the Orange Ones. King William 1st of the House of Orange of Netherlands led the war against the Spanish Monarchy, As the Protestant population revolted against the Catholic rule. In the 80 years of war Around 6lakh-7lakh people died, but it ended with the victory of Orange and the foundation of an Independent Dutch State. The Color Orange became a symbol of Power and Ethics and was a brand of the dynasty, and even the houses were painted into this.
So as a tribute to their King the Dutch farmers grew Carrots with extra Carotenoids, which is responsible for their orange color. However some historians might contradict but nevertheless, the orange carrots were politically placed in markets and became so popular that their other counterparts became almost obsolete. As Orange carrots gained the attention of the masses they also became a symbol of Protestant Pride and Honor, earlier which was called Royal Carrots.

So this the ugly history of Carrots becoming orange, and the Political and Social superiority it holds in its past as King William was the last person to successfully invade England. Even today people in the Netherlands can be seen holding up orange boards and celebrating St.Patrick's Day.
